This week I got a message from a reader on Facebook asking for some help in deciding how to style the new jean jacket she recently got. A good jean jacket can be such a closet staple, but it can also be confusing. It’s a casual piece, something that you’d normally just throw on with jeans and keep it moving, but if you don’t want to rock the denim on denim trend, what’s a girl to do? Here’s some ideas…
Since getting the jean jacket I wore here, I’ve been using it as an extra layer on cooler, or over cast days when I’m not wearing jeans. Pairing it with a plaid button down, bright shorts, and a fun tote help the jacket work with out being the statement of the outfit.
If you’ve read this blog at all, you know I’m a huge fan of a maxi dress. This outfit would be just as perfect for the farmers market, as it would be for an alfresco dinner. This is also a great outfit to pack for any summer vacations you might have planned, where just a little too much sun can makes adding long sleeves at night somewhat necessary.
I’m a recent romper convert, and a jean jacket can really break up the “onsie” effect. This linen number in a bright color would be perfect for a girls night out. As someone who is always cold no matter what the season, adding this jacket instead of a sweater is a nice change of pace.
So despite the arrival of summer this weekend (YAY!!!!!!!) don’t let this closet staple get pushed to the back of your closet until fall.
