If you read any blog, or have looked at any fall catalog or look book that has showed up on your doorstep, you’ve probably seen an embellished sweatshirt….or 50. They are everywhere, and at literally every single price point. And while I’m still a little undecided myself, a trend can’t be denied. When you’re dealing with something like this, that may be here and gone before the holidays ever roll around, you certainly don’t want to make a huge investment.
This sweatshirt is beautiful, and has some amazing embellishments, but for over $100? That’s tough for such a trendy piece. Lucky for you, There are a ton of options out there under $50, some under $30.
1. This sweatshirt actually incorporates two trends: embellishments and polka dots. In terms of embellishments it’s actually rather subtle. This is another similar option.
2. I love this with the lady like pearl accents, and an all over detail that’s reminiscent of the J. Crew sweatshirt pictured above.
3. The lips on this one may be bold, but paired with a chambray shirt and denim skinny jeans, or even leather leggings, and you’ve got a pretty rocker outfit. And for under $25, you can’t really argue with a fun piece like this.
4. Who can say no to a collar like this?! It’s like your statement necklace is built right into your cozy sweatshirt. Bonus? It’s currently on sale through 10/20!
5. Another bold graphic, with tons of crystals, this sweatshirt is fun. Add a boyfriend shirt, blazer, leggings and boots, and you’ve got a great go to outfit for any weekend this fall.
If you aren’t sure how to style this trend, here’s a suggestion…
Bag/Button Down/Sweatshirt/Jeans/Lofers
Pair an embellished sweatshirt with a plaid or chambray button down, dark skinny jeans for a glammed up casual look. With simple black loafers and a cross body bag and you are comfortable and on trend this fall.

Another great option is Poshmark…I just saw an amazing Zara embellished skull shirt…original price was over $100 but PM price was $50. And there’s always room to negotiate! I love the options you picked and your styling suggestions.
Poshmark is a great place to pick up trendy pieces you might want to try out. I also love it for trying out new brands with out paying full price. 🙂
Glad you liked the Styling Suggestion!

Personally, I love this trend. I definitely have been wearing my sweatshirt with skinny jeans and mocs on the weekend for a laid back look. Great styling suggestions here!
I think I just need to find the right sweatshirt to fall in love with this trend. I mean, how can you really go wrong with a sweatshirt! I love that comfy glam is an actual thing right now.

I think that laid back, yet still dressed look is the reason I’ve been so drawn to them. And I was eyeing those mocs in one of your posts. So cute!

I am in love with the J.Crew one, and have been since it came out! I thought the obsession would fade for me, but it hasn’t. I don’t know if you read my post a few weeks ago, but I have the short sleeve J.Crew sweatshirt (with embellishments along the neck and arms), and it will not stop snagging. If you get one, definitely avoid one that has jewels on the inside of the sleeve to prevent snagging. I definitely wish I would have gotten one of these cute options you have here!
OMG! I saw that and probably said “darn, what a bummer!” out loud to my computer screen. The J.Crew one is beautiful, but I’ve also been loving the ones at Old Navy. Slightly less embellished, but that might help with the snag problem.

I like how you pair your embellished sweatshirts with a plaid button-up…it totally dresses down the look and makes it more everyday!

Thanks! I love the mix of casual and glam, it makes being comfortable look much more polished.
Love this trend! My husband totally doesn’t get it. Haha.
For the super crafty, it’s a pretty easy DIY too! You can buy a stud setter at just about any craft store. Even the old Bedazzler would be a handy tool for this type of project! Just another budget idea.
That’s such a good point, this would be a pretty easy DIY project. I think Jessica of What I Wore did one a few weeks ago actually, http://whatiwore.tumblr.com/post/60265843973/diy-jewel-trimmed-sweatshirt.
Her’s turned out so cute!
