While we may have all accepted that it is fall (yes, my Starbucks lovers, the Pumpkin Spice Latte is officially in stores) it is actually still summer. And we all know there is probably an Indian Summer coming our way in the next few weeks. Knowing that, it’s probably a little aggressive to put all your shorts away just yet.

Let’s put together a few ways to dress your shorts for the transition.

Shorts/Tank/Blazer/Shoes/Clutch

Dressing up your shorts is so easy this time of year. Adding a blazer at night keeps the chill off and is a great way to add a pop of color. Leopard print is basically a neutral, but when paired with the leather trim on the shorts, increases that sexy feel for a date night. Add some jewelry (either a statement necklace or an arm party of bangles) and you’re ready to go.

Cut-off jean shorts have been the go to look this summer (I wear mine obsessively) so they are an obvious pick through much of September. Paired with a chunky knit, slouchy sweater, and booties and the look becomes much more fall brunch than beach stroll. A felted wool hat has been on my wish list for a while, and I think an outfit like this is just the reason to bite the bullet.

And just in case you wanted the shorts to make the statement and not the rest of hte outfit…

…I love these. Now with black pumps and a moto jacket, and later with tights and a sweater.
